La mujer tiene hoy un papel muy importante dentro del mundo de los negocios, su participación en la economía ha incrementado de manera constante y en épocas recientes.
La mujer emprendedora, caracterizada por un espíritu activo y positivo que la lleva a asumir riesgos y responsabilidades. Mujeres líderes que saben enfrentar todo tipo de crisis y están dispuestas a tomar decisiones acertadas, ellas tienen una influencia importante dentro de sus negocios y empresas generando un valor agregado de alta importancia; la participación de las mujeres esta incrementando mas en el ámbito empresarial, dando una visión diferente a su entorno.
Sin embargo, culturalmente, aquellas mujeres en puestos gerenciales en un mundo de hombres, las ha puesto en la lupa del desempeño, los cuales requieren mayores resultados, incluso ofreciéndoles un sueldo menor en comparación a un varón que podría ocupar en dado momento el mismo puesto en las mismas circunstancias.

Aun así, por su dedicación y esfuerzo, muchas mujeres han logrado sobrepasar las expectativas en el mundo de los negocios y se han destacado por su liderazgo muy particular.

No obstante, si bien es cierto, la mujer ha tenido una evolución importante en el entorno empresarial, pero en las empresas privadas como publicas todavía predomina el varón para cargos gerenciales mas altos.
